My biceps aren't what they used to be. There's no gym nearby and the hay is already stacked for the year. So to me, reframing leaf-raking as an outstanding upper body workout totally works. YMMV. The point is, if you focus on the benefit, you're much more likely to get started on the dreaded task.
I could focus on seeing the grass again, or the way the lawn will look when I'm done, but the truth is the leaves are really pretty and they match the house. So I don't care so much about removing them right now. But I know I'll be upset when the snow melts and inches of wet leaves keep the grass from coming back, so I have to do it pretty soon. Being fit - including less flabby arms - resonates more with me.
Go with what works!
